Bible Verses about Apostasy

51 verses on this topic, ordered Genesis to Revelation

The Bible speaks seriously about apostasy, which means turning away from or abandoning the faith after once professing to follow God. Scripture warns believers not to deliberately reject Christ or allow their faith to grow cold. Hebrews 10:26–27 gives a strong warning about deliberately continuing in sin after knowing the truth, while 1 Timothy 4:1 says that “in later times some shall depart from the faith.” Apostasy is therefore presented as a serious spiritual danger that requires believers to remain faithful to Christ.

At the same time, the Bible repeatedly encourages Christians to persevere in faith, remain grounded in God’s Word, and hold firmly to Christ. Hebrews 3:12–14 warns believers to guard their hearts against turning away from the living God, while Matthew 24:13 says, “he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” The message is clear: do not abandon your faith; remain faithful to Christ and continue in Him to the end.
