How Strong’s Numbers Work

Every word in the King James Version was assigned a unique reference number by James Strong in 1890 — H for the Hebrew Old Testament, G for the Greek New Testament. Looking up a number reveals the original word behind the English translation, its pronunciation, and every way it gets rendered elsewhere in the KJV, so you can see the fuller range of meaning a single English word doesn't always capture.
