Verse 1

KJV These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

WEB Jesus said these things, then lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you;

BSB When Jesus had spoken these things, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.

Verse 2

KJV As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

WEB even as you gave him authority over all flesh, so he will give eternal life to all whom you have given him.

BSB For You granted Him authority over all people, so that He may give eternal life to all those You have given Him.

Verse 3

KJV And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

WEB This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

BSB Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

Verse 4

KJV I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

WEB I glorified you on the earth. I have accomplished the work which you have given me to do.

BSB I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do.

Verse 5

KJV And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

WEB Now, Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world existed.

BSB And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world existed.

Verse 6

KJV I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

WEB “I revealed your name to the people whom you have given me out of the world. They were yours, and you have given them to me. They have kept your word.

BSB I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

Verse 7

KJV Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

WEB Now they have known that all things whatever you have given me are from you,

BSB Now they know that everything You have given Me comes from You.

Verse 8

KJV For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

WEB for the words which you have given me I have given to them; and they received them, and knew for sure that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me.

BSB For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me.

Verse 9

KJV I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

WEB I pray for them. I don’t pray for the world, but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.

BSB I ask on their behalf. I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those You have given Me; for they are Yours.

Verse 10

KJV And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

WEB All things that are mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them.

BSB All I have is Yours, and all You have is Mine; and in them I have been glorified.

Verse 11

KJV And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

WEB I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them through your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are.

BSB I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one.

Verse 12

KJV While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

WEB While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name. I have kept those whom you have given me. None of them is lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

BSB While I was with them, I protected and preserved them by Your name, the name You gave Me. Not one of them has been lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.

Verse 13

KJV And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

WEB But now I come to you, and I say these things in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.

BSB But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so that they may have My joy fulfilled within them.

Verse 14

KJV I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

WEB I have given them your word. The world hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

BSB I have given them Your word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Verse 15

KJV I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

WEB I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one.

BSB I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

Verse 16

KJV They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

WEB They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

BSB They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Verse 17

KJV Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

WEB Sanctify them in your truth. Your word is truth.

BSB Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.

Verse 18

KJV As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

WEB As you sent me into the world, even so I have sent them into the world.

BSB As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world.

Verse 19

KJV And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

WEB For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

BSB For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the truth.

Verse 20

KJV Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

WEB “Not for these only do I pray, but for those also who will believe in me through their word,

BSB I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message,

Verse 21

KJV That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

WEB that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me.

BSB that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

Verse 22

KJV And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

WEB The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one,

BSB I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one—

Verse 23

KJV I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

WEB I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfected into one, that the world may know that you sent me and loved them, even as you loved me.

BSB I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Verse 24

KJV Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

WEB Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me be with me where I am, that they may see my glory which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world.

BSB Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Verse 25

KJV O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

WEB Righteous Father, the world hasn’t known you, but I knew you; and these knew that you sent me.

BSB Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me.

Verse 26

KJV And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

WEB I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

BSB And I have made Your name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them.”
