KJV And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
WEB As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.
BSB Now as Jesus was passing by, He saw a man blind from birth,
Verse 2
KJV And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
WEB His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
BSB and His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Verse 3

WEB Jesus answered, “This man didn’t sin, nor did his parents, but that the works of God might be revealed in him.
BSB Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God would be displayed in him.
Verse 4

WEB I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.
BSB While it is daytime, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work.
Verse 5
KJV As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
WEB While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
BSB While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Verse 6
KJV When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
WEB When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man’s eyes with the mud,
BSB When Jesus had said this, He spit on the ground, made some mud, and applied it to the man’s eyes.
Verse 7
KJV And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
WEB and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.
BSB Then He told him, “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came back seeing.
Verse 8
KJV The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
WEB Therefore the neighbors and those who saw that he was blind before said, “Isn’t this he who sat and begged?”
BSB At this, his neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging began to ask, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?”
Verse 9
KJV Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
WEB Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He looks like him.” He said, “I am he.”
BSB Some claimed that he was, but others said, “No, he just looks like him.” But the man kept saying, “I am the one.”
Verse 10
KJV Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
WEB They therefore were asking him, “How were your eyes opened?”
BSB “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
Verse 11

WEB He answered, “A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went away and washed, and I received sight.”
BSB He answered, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and anointed my eyes, and He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed and received my sight.”
Verse 12
KJV Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
WEB Then they asked him, “Where is he?” He said, “I don’t know.”
BSB “Where is He?” they asked. “I do not know,” he answered.

Verse 15
KJV Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
WEB Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see.”
BSB So the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. The man answered, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.”
Verse 16
KJV Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
WEB Some therefore of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” So there was division among them.
BSB Because of this, some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, “How can a sinful man perform such signs?” And there was division among them.
Verse 17
KJV They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
WEB Therefore they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”
BSB So once again they asked the man who had been blind, “What do you say about Him, since it was your eyes He opened?” “He is a prophet,” the man replied.

WEB but how he now sees, we don’t know; or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself.”
BSB But how he can now see or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself.”
Verse 22
KJV These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
WEB His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
BSB His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews had already determined that anyone who confessed Jesus as the Christ would be put out of the synagogue.
Verse 23
KJV Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
WEB Therefore his parents said, “He is of age. Ask him.”
BSB That was why his parents said, “He is old enough. Ask him.”
Verse 24
KJV Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
WEB So they called the man who was blind a second time, and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”
BSB So a second time they called for the man who had been blind and said, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”
Verse 25
KJV He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
WEB He therefore answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. One thing I do know: that though I was blind, now I see.”

Verse 27
KJV He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?

BSB “That is remarkable indeed!” the man said. “You do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes.
Verse 31
KJV Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
